There is one more sleeve option left for the Olive dress and blouse – the long sleeve option. So that’s what we will do today! It’s the only sleeve option with an actual sleeve attached. So instead, we will sew it in flat instead of in the round.
Are you ready?
Lay your garment down in front of you, open and flat, with the right side of the fabric facing you.
Make sure you have transferred the notch on the sleeve pattern to your sleeve fabric.
Place the sleeve down on top of the garment, right sides together, so that the sleeve notch lines up with the shoulder seam.
Line up the edge of the sleeve with the edge of the sleeve opening.
Sew together 5/8″ from the raw edge.
Finish the raw edge with your preferred method.
Repeat with the other sleeve.
Press the seam allowance towards the sleeve.
Fold the garment over so right sides are together.
Match up the underarm seams and line up the raw edges.
Sew in one continuous line from the sleeve and side seam to the hem, 5/8″ from the raw edge.
Finish the raw edge with your preferred method.
We’ll go over hemming in a separate post, but since this is the only sleeve with a hem, I’ll go over it really quick here.
Fold under the raw edge towards the inside by 3/8″ and press.
Fold in again by another 3/8″, enclosing the raw edges, and press.
Stitch close to the edge.
The end!
