Are you making View A for your Jarrah sweater? Well we’re going to finish it up today! All that’s left do is the hem. View A uses a hem band. The pattern recommends using a ribbing fabric for that perfect, traditional sweatshirt feel. But you can also use the same fabric as the body of your sweater, or another jersey knit fabric. Either way, the steps below are what you need to complete your look. So let’s get going!
Jarrah Sewalong // How to sew the split sleeve and curved hem (views B+D)
In today’s Jarrah sweater post, we’ll be covering everything you need to do to finish up views B + D.
First, we will go over the split sleeve that is found in both views, and I’ll even show you a couple of different tips and options for finishes. Has anyone ever done a mitered corner before? It gives such a nice clean finish!
I’ll also cover how to finish the curved hem of view B. But don’t worry – even though I don’t show you here, the straight hem of view D is exactly the same and pretty straight forward.
Are you ready for this?! It’s a fun one!
Jarrah Sewalong // How to sew the sleeves with cuffs (views A+C)
Next up on our Jarrah sweaters – the sleeves. Today we’re going to cover the cuffed sleeve option for views A + C (stay tuned for the split sleeve tutorial for the other views later on). This is another quick and easy step, so if you’re doing one of these views, you should be able to zoom through it no problem.
Ready?!
Jarrah Sewalong // How to sew the neckband or funnel neck
Next up for Jarrah is the neckline finishing! I’m going to go over how to do the neckband (views A, B and C), as well as the funnel neck (view D). Technincally, the construction is exactly the same for both options – the funnel neck is just larger than the neckband. But in case you are a visual learner like I am, I’ll go over both separately!
Ok, let’s do this…
Jarrah Sewalong // how to sew the seams
Ok, we can now get started on our Jarrah sweater construction! The first step is easy peasy – the seams. We will be stitching up the shoulder seams and attaching the sleeves to the body. Like I said, a super simple step to start out with. But isn’t that nice to be able to ease into a project like that?
These steps are the same for all views. So whichever you are making, lets get started!
