flower child

Months ago Bunny and i were in a fabric store together. I was looking for something specific – and hunting down every row of fabric bolts. When Bunny’s hand shot out and yanked a bolt off the shelf. She told me it was “so very very pretty” and asked me to make her a dress.

It was the first time she had ever asked me to make her anything – i couldn’t resist. And the fact that she had chosen her own fabric was too precious.

So i got to work.

One of my favourite things to make for her is a tunic dress – they work well because she can pull them over her head, and when they get too short they just become a top.

I used exposed facing to break up the floral- and ummm, a placket – because you gals know i love a placket. hehehe. The buttons were a gift from my mother in law – i think they work so perfectly for this dress.

I really loved this project – and i love that Bunny loves her dress. Now that it’s finally warm enough to wear it, i can see her getting so much use out of it this summer. But the thing that’s most interesting to me, is seeing how she is developing her own tastes. I never would have chosen this print for her – but she fell for it hard and fast. There she is, growing up too fast, right in front of my eyes. Little darling.

Love this dress! And it’s too sweet that Bunny picked out the fabric herself! She has great style!
