I’m sure I am the only one who notices these things – but it has been ages since i’ve shared a new make here! The reason is I have been working like a dog behind the scenes developing new patterns, and making samples for our next lookbook shoot. Phew. At times it’s felt a lot like my head is spinning and i’m not quite in control. I hate that feeling! Add to that the fact that I broke a toe a month ago (if you have been reading this blog for a few years, you’ll know i’ve done this 3 times before. CLUTZ) and then sewed through my finger, and well, lets just say it’s been interesting! So yeah, you are probably going to see me in a lot of flat shoes for the next few handmade style posts LOL.
Anyway, so excited to share with you one of my favourite Sudley blouses! This one has been in deep rotation in my closet. Honestly i didn’t expect that, because i tend to shy away from purple – it’s not a colour i natural gravitate to, but the fabric was so fabulous i couldn’t help myself from using it. I’m glad i gave it a try, because it’s really nice for a change!
I actually bought it at G Street fabrics in Virginia before we moved back to Perth. That’s how long i’ve been hoarding it. The thing i love about G Street is that they have seriously awesome discounts every now and then, and in that particular shopping trip i just went nuts buying gorgeous silks at 50% off. Pathetic i am.
I made Version 1, the blouse with above elbow sleeves and peter pan collar. Though i ran out of fabric because of poor cut planning, so i didn’t do ties, i used hook and eye closures instead. I like the clean look it gives it, i’ll definitely be doing that again! Version 1 is probably the most versatile out of all the variations – it’s works just as well tucked in as it does hanging loose like I’m wearing today. With a pair of jeans like this it’s casual, but when tucked into a fitted skirt it’s great for work or going out. I love garments that fit into life well.
In other news, i had a little hair update! I’ve had my blonde balayage for quite some time, so I made a little change to a copper ombre, and i seriously love it! Sometimes it’s so nice to have a change when the seasons change, and with winter on the doorstep here in Perth, the darker look is a nice change.
