I’m so excited because my daughter Bunny has asked me to make her Prom / Year 12 Ball dress! This is a very new and challenging project for me and i have a lot to learn so I thought it would be fun to take you on the journey of learning how to make her Prom ballgown and I really hope you enjoy it! So far I’ve got three videos up in this series, and i’ll keep updating on Youtube as I go. If you’re not following me on Youtube already, head on over and hit subscribe so you get the updates.
In Episode 1 I’m sharing all about my experience of trying to find exactly the right embroidered tulle for her, ending up at AliExpress and we’ll be taking a look at all the tulle i bought and chatting about my discomfort with buying fabric online.
I ordered so many fabric samples for the underlining and lining of my daughter’s Prom dress that i was getting really confused, but then I remembered I had purchased some KATM Fabric ID tape many years ago and hadn’t had a chance to use yet – so I made a little mini episode on cataloguing samples using this tape.
In Episode 2 Bunny chooses what fabric she’d like for her gown! Join us as we spend a fun afternoon picking out fabrics and having way too much fun together. I feel very blessed to have this girl as my daughter :)
I really hope you enjoy this video series and if you have any advice for me please let me know! This is my first time making a ballgown with a structured bodice, I’ve never used boning, or sewn with embroidered tulle – so any wisdom or insight is much appreciated!
