It’s time to finish up our Axel skirts! The only thing left now is to attach the waistband. I’ll be showing you on my View B sample. But it is the same construction for all versions, no matter which one you made. Ok, let’s just get to it.

Take your waistband piece and fold it in half lengthwise, with right sides together.

Line up the short raw edges, and sew 1/4″(6mm) from the raw edge (5/8″(1.5cm) if you are using the older version with letter sizes), using either a zig zag stitch or overlock/serger.

Press the seam open, if you can.

Now fold the waistband in half, width ways, lining up the seam.

Press well.

Starting with the seam of the waistband, divide and mark the waistband into quarters.

Lay your skirt down with right side facing out.

Place your waistband over the skirt with right sides together, the raw edge of the waistband should line up with the raw edge of the skirt.
Line up the seam of the waistband with one of the side seams of the skirt. Line up the other quarter markers on the waistband with the other side seam and two center seams.

Sew 1/4″(6mm) from the raw edge around the entire waist (5/8″(1.5cm) if you are using the older version with letter sizes), using either a zig zag stitch or overlock/serger.

Press the seam down towards the skirt.
