How to Choose between Marri & Marri Curve

How to choose between Marri and Marri Curve

If you find yourself in the crossover 14-20 sizes and are struggling to choose between the Marri & Marri Curve Patterns, today I will be sharing a visual comparison between them! Our diagrams will compare a size 20 from our 0-20 range shown in outline, to the size 20 in the Curve range as shown in pink. Please note not all pattern pieces have been shown, just ones that illustrate the key differences. As this pattern is modular, all bodice pattern pieces are drafted the same, they only differ in neckline cut.

How to Choose between the Marri & Marri Curve sewing patterns | Megan Nielsen Patterns blog

As with all of our patterns, Marri sizes 0-20 have been drafted for a 2″ (5cm) difference between the upper bust and full bust measurement. Marri Curve sizes 14-34 have been drafted for a 4” (10cm) difference between the upper bust and full bust measurement. The Curve pattern is drafted with the same style and design details but with a curvy figure in mind.

The Curve pattern includes a larger dart for a better bust fit on fuller busts, as well more length in the facings for better coverage on fuller busts. The dart apex for the Curve pattern is lower than the 0-20 pattern and all necklines have been kept as consistent as possible.

For both patterns, the waistline of the dress should hit around the natural waist, or slightly above, however given the cut this won’t be obvious. The slit opening is the same across both patterns, however the camisole and slip dress lengths are ever so slightly longer in the Curve pattern, again to allow for the fuller bust room.

If you find yourself in the crossover of the two ranges in sizes 14-20 we recommend that you choose your pattern based on your high bust to full bust difference. These measurements are included in the size chart of each pattern.

Both patterns come with the same awesome variations and all our tutorials and add-on ideas can be applied to either!

I hope you have found this breakdown on how to choose between Marri and Marri Curve helpful. If you have any questions or need any further help please let me know in the comments!
