Last year when I closed my retail studio space I brought my beautiful big workbench home. Whilst the workbench was in the studio space, my dad and I added two shelves underneath it to store rolls of fabric. It was so convenient and I really loved it aesthetically as well. Unfortunately when we moved the workbench home, it became immediately apparent it wouldn’t fit in our renovated cottage, so instead it found a home in our undercover outdoor area. I have loved having it there, and never expected it would be so useful for our family as a craft and dining space as well. It didn’t really need the shelves that Dad and I had made anymore, so I decided to reuse that wood and make a scrapwood seating bench for our dining table!
I made a video of the journey of trying to make a seating bench from scrapwood, and I hope you enjoy watching me fumble my way through it!
This was such a satisfying and fun project, and I am so happy with how it turned out. With three kids it’s so nice to have this bench that they can use and scuff up, and i won’t get upset because it’s scrapwood!
