I’m going to file this under: things I was so excited about and forgot to post about. A little while after I taught Bunny to sew she decided she wanted to do her first solo project. I was so excited and it took me approximately 30 seconds to run to my sewing cupboard! She had run out of shorts that fit and was frustrated with all the length of all the shorts in the shops and lack of pockets- and decided the solution was to make herself a pair in the exact length she wanted with massive pockets. Can words even express my joy in my child discovering that sewing can solve sartorial woes? I wish all kids could learn this, i think it would reduce so much anxiety when getting dressed!
So here is a little peek at my Bunny making her very first pair of shorts four years ago. These shorts were absolutely worn to death, and I think are a great example of how empowering it is to be able to wear clothing that was thoughtfully made. These have now been passed on to Birdie to wear – which makes my hand-me-down-handmade loving heart so happy!
