Meet the team!

Meet the Megan Nielsen Patterns Team!

Almost ten years ago Megan Nielsen Patterns began with just me, working in the middle of the night and during my toddler’s nap times. It was really challenging and I worked so incredibly hard. The Megan Nielsen Patterns team has grown quite a bit over the years, and I thought you might enjoy meeting the team! We’ve got a mix of team members who work full time, part time or ad hoc. Some in our studio here in Perth, and some remotely from home. We’re a friendly and collaborative bunch who love sewing and share a passion for making awesome things. I really hope you enjoy meeting the MN team!

Meet the Team behind Megan Nielsen Patterns!

Meg | Founder and Director

Meg is the Founder and Creative Director of Megan Nielsen Patterns, and is constantly dreaming up ideas for new sewing patterns and ways to make your sewing journey more enjoyable! She gets really excited about pockets and design details and is always trying to add way too many variations to our patterns.

Meg is a passionate Christian, and lives in sunny Perth, Western Australia with her husband Chris, and three beautiful kiddos (Who we call “Bunny”, “Buddy” and “Birdie” online).

When Meg’s not in the studio getting overly excited about design details and adding way too many exclamation points to everything you’ll find her swimming laps, baking with her kids and desperately trying to become a good gardener!

Anita | Operations Manager at Megan Nielsen Patterns

Anita | Operations Manager

Anita is the Operations Manager here at Megan Nielsen Patterns, and happily works on multiple areas of the business in any one day! Anita is the first port of call for any of your customer service enquiries, manages daily operations and oversees all pattern production, graphic design, website maintenance, inventory management & drinking all the coffee/eating all the cookies in the cupboard.

When she isn’t drinking all the coffee & eating all the cookies in the studio cupboard (or chatting to you guys on email), you can find her spending time with her fiancé Michael and two little kids.

Naomi Halls Design Assistant at Megan Nielsen Patterns

Naomi | Design Assistant

Naomi is a design assistant here at Megan Nielsen Patterns, and our resident helping hand. She stays busy assisting Meg with pattern development leg work, getting super excited about good instructional diagrams and making green coloured fabric suggestions for every sample we make. She’s also the smiling face in our studio retail space, where she loves hearing all about your current projects, getting excited about your ideas for new ones, and helping out with the challenges that come along with sewing & crafting. She’s a problem solver, a fabric addict, a serial tea-forgetter and a passionate maker.

When she’s not helping and chatting away here in the studio, she’s at home buried in her ever-growing fabric stash, working on her own sewing projects and spending time with friends & family.

Phoebe | Graphic Designer at Megan Nielsen Patterns

Phoebe | Graphic Designer

Phoebe is the studio’s in-house graphic designer. You’ll see her work on our pattern packaging, pattern instructions, social media posts and web graphics, as well as making tea in the studio every other hour.

Phoebe also likes to create things by hand, indulging in crafts like painting, embroidery, crochet and knitting. She’s currently learning to become a sewing addict like everyone on the team!

When Phoebe isn’t head bopping to the studio’s daily playlist, she’s keeping her hands busy with drawing, playing games or binging Asian dramas while working on handmade projects.

Isabelle | Admin Assistant at Megan Nielsen Patterns

Isabelle | Admin Assistant

Isabelle is probably a familiar face if you’ve checked out our Curve range! She has many titles—student, writer, movie buff, Capricorn—but here at Megan Nielsen she’s our wonderful admin assistant and fit model! Isabelle works hard shipping orders, keeping the studio organised, and supporting the rest of the team with keeping things running smoothly. Isabelle is learning to sew and is documenting her handmade wardrobe journey in our blog series A Beginner Sews.

When Isabelle isn’t at the studio spreading sunshine wherever she goes, she can be found reading, watching movies, playing with her puppy Dolly, and attempting to write the next great Australian novel.

Krystal Meek Sample Maker at Megan Nielsen Patterns

Krystal | Sample maker

Krystal is the amazing sample maker at Megan Nielsen Patterns and is the self-proclaimed pattern matching queen. She has been working in the live performance industry for the last 12 years making costumes for theatre and dance. She loves to try her hand at new things like tambour and shoe making.

When she’s not sewing up a storm, Krystal is baking treats for her husband and two boys.

Holly | Tutorial technical writer

Holly writes part time for the Megan Nielsen blog– sewing like crazy, creating tutorials and sewalongs. She has been sewing since she was a little girl, and has her degree in apparel design. Now she’s a stay at home mama, and spends all her free nap times at her sewing machine.

When she isn’t sewing and blogging here, you can find her with her husband and baby girl Penny and working on her Etsy shop, Nelly Lou, where she creates clothing and accessories for little ones.

Nastasia | Tutorial contributing writer at Megan Nielsen Patterns

Nastasia | Tutorial contributing writer

Nastasia is a mom of four who loves to sew for herself and her family! She enjoys putting her spin on patterns and exploring her creativity. Nastasia has a degree in broadcast journalism and is a dance teacher and dance mom. She loves her alone time in her sewing space, but will also welcome her children in to get involved too!
When Nastasia isn’t coming up with gorgeous pattern hacks you’ll find her creating custom clothing and accessories for her Etsy store PoshPilar.
