Behind The Scenes / From The Workroom

Workroom peeks // busy busy

Megan NIelsen workroom peeks

Well me dears, i thought it might be time for another workroom peek! Things have been so busy recently that most of the time I’m feeling a bit like my head is on backwards.

Last year when i decided to create a line of patterns for children I ended up pushing to the side a number of patterns i was part way through completing. Prioritizing is always hard, but since my business is small I can only work on one pattern at a time, and that often means some hard decisions. I’m really glad i made time for working on the kids designs because that was such an awesome experience and i love how they turned out, but it was really hard for me to put on hold womens designs i adore and wear every day. So this year my goal is to finish all those darlings that i love so much, and get the out to you gals! Right now we have about 5 patterns in the pipeline. Can you believe that? I can’t! My lovely husband Chris has had to help me come up with some really thorough project planning to keep everything on track. And so far so good! Megan NIelsen workroom peeksMegan NIelsen workroom peeks

The side effect of that, is that i’m running around like crazy. Not going to complain though, i’d rather be too busy than have nothing to do! I’m really excited about all the patterns we are finishing up behind the scenes, but must admit that i do feel sad about not having as much time to blog at the moment. I miss chatting to you all and sharing what i’m up to. I’m hoping to carve out a bit more regular time to share what i’m up to. My pile of personal makes that i haven’t yet blogged is getting a little ridiculous. And even though I hang out Instagram a lot, and get to connect to many of you there – i still feel like this space is my home. Am i rambling or making sense? maybe both :)Megan NIelsen workroom peeksMegan NIelsen workroom peeks

Other stuff on my to do list is a lot of sample making! Aside from the samples for new designs – we’ve been updating all of our website images to be more current and consistent. As you know in the past i used lots of different models, and though i loved this, it meant my samples were not all the same size. There was a huge mix. For quite some time I’ve been working with lovely Ashleigh as our fit model, and decided it was time to make all samples in one consistent size. It’s taking me ages to remake all the samples for our existing designs, but it’s so worth it! I’m honestly just thrilled with having everything consistent, not just on the website, but behind the scenes.

So that’s where i’m at these days! I’m a pretty equal mix of busy, tired, excited and cookies right now hehehe

Meg xoxo

Yay! How exciting! I love your idea of using all the samples on one model because that will make it easier for us to see how the patterns and fit differ on one subject. And how awesome your hubby gets involved in the planning process!
