Sneakpeek // patterns for little girls

My dear friends i am so excited to let you in on a little secret… after many many requests over the last few years – we have begun quietly working away on a line of children’s patterns based on our women’s designs!

I’m so excited – this has been really fun and something that i’ve wanted to do for many many years and just haven’t had the time to focus on (see here and here – when did these kids grow up?! yikes). Lets all give Sarah three cheers for helping me find more time for design development!

Currently in development are Mini Tania culottes, Mini Briar sweater + tee and Mini Virginia leggings. Basically I’m looking at this as a mini collection of sorts – a few key patterns that could make up an entire little girls wardrobe. They will be practical and they will be stylish, with additional details that are appropriate to kids wear like knee patches and applique and easy on off waistbands (why make kids struggle with zips?!). Basically a bunch of cute stuff i can’t stop myself from including hehe.

I’m planning on covering ages 2-12 and based on how well these patterns do i’m hoping to expand to more designs, a range for baby and of course boys because i love my boy and boys need rad clothing too!

As with any new pattern we’ll be going into testing for these designs soon – so if you think you’d be interested in helping test out some little girls patterns here is a link to the sign up form (please note that this is a different list than for testing our women’s patterns, if you’d like to sign up for our women’s list here is the link). If you don’t have a little girl please feel free to sign up anyway – we would love to get in touch when we start on boys.

So what do you think?! I hope you’re as excited as i am – this is something that’s really close to my heart and i can’t wait to get some stylish kids stuff out to you all!

So excited you’ll be going up to a 12! There are precious few patterns past an 8 or a 10. I look forward to seeing the kids line!

I think my youngest would go nuts over the Briar top!

Woohoo how exciting!! I love the look of these for little girls but am super excited by the thought of you doing boys patterns as there aren’t nearly so many appealing boys patterns. I’ve put my name down as interested in testing for boys but might just need to buy the mini briar to try for my nieces!

That is amazing. I really like to sew for my self, but my real passion is to sew for my kids. I totally can see my girl rock the briar and the leggings. Plus, oh yes please, make some boy patterns. I love to sew for my little man!

I don’t have my own children (yet), but I absolutely adore the idea of this collection! It’s great that you’re planning some things for boys too, there don’t seem to be many nice patterns out there for boys :)

Very cute! I won’t have a chance to try them out unless I have a daughter sometime, but I am quite excited to hear that you’ll be adding boy patterns too. It’s been so much harder to find exciting patterns for them, even in the baby sizes!

Wow! I am super excited by your cool patterns for children! Sometimes it is very tricky to please the little ones…

Looking forward to this!! I love that you are thinking of leaving zips off of bottoms, my girls hate to fiddle with zippers.

How exciting, my daughter has been eyeing up my Tania Culottes for ages!!

And the possibility of boys patterns, how fab, I can’t find any decent larger boy patterns that are not either suits or combats!!

This is such exciting news. I love that you’re going to go up to age 12, because not many kids pattern company’s go up to that age group. I am really looking forward to your boys designs since they really are a customer who is mostly ignored. I hope that one day you even consider making for older kids than 12 since the only patterns available for that age group are from the Big 4. I have sewn for my niece and nephew for years and I find it incredibly enjoyable and rewarding.

So so cute! I can’t wait! The size range is amazing too. Also: I have the urge to color your adorable fashion sketch. Your skills are plenty :)

I’m excited about the briar top! A simple but modern tee is surprisingly hard to come by in toddler patterns. Everything seems to have frills and ruffles galore.

So fun! These are such great modern patterns for women, and they’ll be so awesome on girls!

Can’t wait for these to come out. I have tried making your adult ones fit my little ones, but would sure love to have the patterns in their sizes from you!

I’m very excited at the prospect of some trendy, hip boy patterns! After previously despising available patterns (let’s face it, boys get the unimaginative end of the pattern design stick) I used to shy away from sewing for them. It wasn’t until I began radically modifying patterns and injecting them with some much needed style that I’ve come to really love sewing for my two boys…but it sure takes more effort to make them looking as stylish as their sister. I look forward to some no-brainer fashion forward sewing for them!
