Remember my too short Tania’s? WELL i loved that fabric so much that i made a Darling Ranges out of it too!
For me, cool prints call out to be Darling Ranges. There’s something about that sewing pattern that is just dying to be covered in a print. I so adore this fabric! I want to call it Ikat, but it isn’t really – it makes me think of ink blotches – or a non tacky tie dye. I’ve done a lot of looking around and i really can’t figure out what to call this pattern other than “inky stripes” – so if you know better, let me know!
Also can we please talk about pattern matching? Because seriously, this print was insanely difficult to match. Pattern matching is something i don’t usually bother with – because with most of the prints i use it’s really not worth the time. But stripes, they’re a different story. With all those horizontal lines i knew it could look kind of ridiculous and mind bending if i didn’t put the effort in to pattern match – but goodness me! It was a real B$%&@ to match. yikes. I’m just going to go ahead and give myself a pat on the back for how good it is. There are some areas i’m not thrilled with (bodice side seams) – but overall i don’t think i could have gotten the pattern matching any better on this one. Fist pump!
So want to know the even better news?! I actually still have a bit of this fabric left over, so i’ve listed it in my store by the metre if anyone is interested! (Another fist pump?)
