bye bye google reader

goodbye google reader :( follow Design Diary on Bloglovin!

You guys i am so bummed – apparently Google Reader is shutting down for good in July. It’s been my favourite way to subscribe to blogs for years, so i’m really sad to see it go!

If you’re in the same boat as me and still want an easy way to follow Design Diary – you can find us on Bloglovin here

Also did you know that you can import your subscriptions from Google Reader right into Bloglovin? cool right? I was pretty thrilled when i found out – the thought of manually refollowing allll my favourite blogs on a different platform one by one was a little intimidating hehe

Or if you prefer – you can get posts delivered straight to your inbox by entering your email address in the Design Diary sidebar (no spam, you literally just get emailed the posts)

It’s funny though, when it comes to blog reading platforms (is that what you call them!?) i don’t really know of any options other than Google Reader and Bloglovin – which now that i think about it, is kinda weird. Do you know if any other cool ways to follow your favourite blogs? I’d love to hear them!

(and bye bye Google Reader… i’m really going to miss you)

I follow you through Blogger, as that’s who I have my blog through. I find this to be a tricky thing, but once upon a time I had all of the blogs I follow in the favourites list…and I would look at them individually to check for new posts (which took forevvver). So anything is better than nothing for me! Totally checking out Bloglovin now.

I’m just about to post a post about other options to try other than GR and bloglovin, I’ll let you know when I do!

Love to hear what you think!

I was just looking at alternatives as well. I’m testing out a few (Bloglovin, The Older Reader, and Feedly). I”m currently liking Feedly. :) Good luck!

Feed Reader is an app you can add to Chrome. It’s the way I follow all my blogs, and it tells me how many are new (currently sitting at 31 – oops :O ). I really like it, only downside is that it’s not portable. But considering I wouldn’t be reading blogs when I’m holiday it’s not really an issue for me :)

I’ve been using Feedly to read mine. It’s a close feel of Google Reader and portable. So far loving it. :)

This doesn’t work for everyone, but I just use Blogger – it’s my fave. I tried Google Reader and found it very cumbersome and annoying, which was probably largely due to me not being used to it, but I gave up pretty quickly.

I am also liking feedly. I follow to many different types of sources to use something like blogger :(

I’ve just signed up for Feedly – I like the different layout options (cards, magazine). Have heard a lot about bloglovin so will be checking them out too.
