I’ve been spending a lot of time this week going through photos from our trip to visit my brother last week. It was such a fun weekend, and i’m so SO glad we were able to be there for his welcome home parade, and just have some fun family time.
I have to admit, i really really loved Townsville! It’s a garrison town in north Queensland, and its truly lovely. Such pretty old buildings, and amazingly beautiful landscape -and as a mom of little kids, i was blown away by all the amazing parks and ammenities they had for families. And with beautiful Magnetic island off the coast – it was pretty magical if you ask me. If you are thinking of a holiday spot, i’d totally recommend this town.
Anyway, here’s a little of how we spent our time there… (photo dump advance warning – i tried to edit, i promise)
(partially) climbed Castle Hill – and fell in love with the view
watched my brothers welcome home parade (embarassed said brother with incessant whoop whooooping as he went by hehehe), and listened to wonderfully moving speeches…
Stood outside at said parade, and discovered that Townsville is in fact hotter than the sun (2 servicemen passed out during the speeches, i kid you not). Also Buddy hates hats and spent a good deal of time mad at me for making him wear one (mommy’s are the WORST)
visited some pretty amazing play grounds
had family barbeques by the beach where we met my my cousins and their sweet boys, who spent literally hours playing with Bunny and Buddy
discovered that little boys, and big boys like climbing trees
but mostly… we just relished all being together again. Welcome home Bud!
