Handmade Wardrobe / Inspiration

rust and red

Before we headed out on our little trip I had that urge for something “new”. Does that ever happen to you before you go away? You look at your wardrobe with uninspired eyes, and suddenly wish for new clothing to pack?

So I decided to be a good girl – and instead of going shopping, I “shopped” my fabric stash and continued my current obsession with making lots of pretty variations of the Briar. I put together this little crop top with the leftovers of the amazing tribal fabric I used to make Bunny and I matching leggings (no we don’t wear them together hehehe).

It was kind of perfect for wearing on a hot day driving on rusty red dirt roads. I can see i’m going to get loads of use out of this little top over summer – it’s the perfect length to go over my array of high waisted skirts – I think it also wants to get thrown over a few sundresses… yes, yes it does.

Top: Megan Nielsen, Briar pattern (available here)
Skirt: Reworked vintage skirt (thrifted)
Shoes: Madewell
Necklace: Thrifted

Meg, that’s awesome! I’m even more impressed you’ve had two children AND you are wearing a crop top and looking mighty fine doing so! Lovely design!

Love the way you’ve styled this! I wasn’t so sure about the cropped length, but it looks great on you!

[…] I’ve been dying to get layer happy with my Briars, since the cropped version does layering so ridiculously well. I love that now my dress can pretend to be a skirt – kind of awesome really. I actually really love this silk dress, but i haven’t worn it much recently – i guess sometimes you fall out of love with something? But throwing my little crop top over it gave it a whole new life for me – i think this might be the first time i’ve worn this dress in a few years. Even if it’s a playing a subdued, undercover role – it still makes me smile that it isn’t hanging wasted in my wardrobe. […]
