NOTE: the instruction booklet has you do a  1/4″ turn up and hem, but I did a 1/2″ here for personal preference.

Fold under 1/2″ and press, then fold under 1/2″ again and press.

Wow… I love this top with a band at the bottom. And the necklines and placket are finished with bias tape.. How do you sew the bias tape to the placket?

Thanks Lisa!

Yep the neckline, armsyces and placket are finished with bias tape. For the placket, i went the easy route – i folded the bias tape in half (so essentiall it was double fold 1/4″ wide tape), and topstitched it in place around the edge. Super easy, but a really great visual detail!

hugs! xoxo

I love the bias tape around the placket. Did you attach it before sewing on the plackets? I imagine it would be a bit like piping to attach? However I’m not sure if you attached it after sewing all the placket. Great idea.

Hi Katy!!

I used double fold bias tape – so what i did was i first went around the neckline and encase the raw edges. Then when i did the placket I added the placket as per normal (without any bias tape). It was only afterwards that i decided that the bias tape would look rad around the placket – so i very careful topstitched it around the edge of the placket – it basically sit right on top of the placket seam allowance. it was pretty cheaty but i love how it turned out!

I hope that helps!!
