Beginning Again: An Update On Moving Back to Australia

Well friends, we’ve been home for 3 weeks now, so i figure it’s time for an update, right??

It’s such an interesting thing being back in Perth after being gone so long. On one hand we feel like everything is back to normal, and just right – and on the other hand it feels like so much of our life is beginning again from scratch. But at least getting ourselves set up and sorted over here has been been a relatively straight forward process. Since we grew up here there has been a real feeling of simply restarting things that have been on hold for a while. Does that make sense? I feel like i’m not explaining myself well :) Maybe that’s okay…

We’ve honestly been really very busy. I was hoping we’d have a bit of a holiday for the first few weeks, and though that hasn’t really happened – i actually feel okay about it because so many good things have been happening. Chris arrived a week after me and the kids, and started job hunting very soon after he arrived – and found a great position at a really amazing company after a week (yay!). We’re really excited about it- the work sounds amazing, and the office is in such a cool part of Perth. I feel so proud of him for finding such a great job. The kids are absolutely loving seeing their grandparents all the time – and with the great weather they’ve been enjoying the outdoors so much. It warms my heart to see them so so happy.  I’ve been working pretty solidly on “Megan Nielsen” stuff since i got over jetlag (that was some intense jetlag!) – and have finally made significant progress with getting things set up with my new pattern manufacturing – I’m really excited about it and can’t wait to tell you a bit more about it, because it’s kind of amazing. It’s been a lot of work, but i can’t wait to reopen my store!!

So i guess that’s it! We’re a few weeks from reopening the store, while i finish up a few things and wait for new stock. I’m excited! I know it was necessary to close up over the move – but gosh i hate it! I’m looking forward to this strange limbo ending, and for us to find our new normal soon :)

That’s so great you are getting settled into your new diggs and the hubby found such a great position. Even better is that the little ones get to see the grandparents on a daily basis. What a treat that must be for them!

So glad it’s all going great for you! Have you had moments yet where you’ve felt American, in comparison to everyone else?

Glad that everything is falling into place for all of you. I know exactly what you mean about things restarting. I felt the same way when we moved back home. Excited for the store reopening!

Changing countries is a huge adjustment to make, even though both places are home. Welcome back to Australia!

Welcome home! Hope you’re enjoying the Perth winter (not as cold as USA! Where’s the snow!?) and so pleased your Hubby found work ok. Perth/WA is where it’s at of course!
