Okay confession… this tree skirt is Holly themed. I know… i know what you’re thinking. Enough with the freaking Holly Meg! But honestly… I didn’t remember that this tree skirt was Holly themed till i pulled it out of our Christmas box the other day. Wowza the obsession is a little extreme hey? I obviously need to branch out mentally to a new theme!
I actually made this a few years ago, our first Christmas in Iowa. As per usual I totally overcomplicated things! It’s lined, ties up, the leaves overlap the join and for some reason I can’t fathom, I sewed the whole damned thing by hand. I really don’t know what i was thinking. I mean, I still really love it – but I honestly wonder sometimes whether it was worth all the effort.
Want to know how I’d make a tree skirt now (with the benefit of hindsight)? I’d buy some felt, Cut it in a giant circle. Cut a whole in the centre, and a slit from the hole to the edge of the circle – and that’s it. Lesson: Stop overcomplicating things Meg!!!! hehe
