An Icecream Date and New Makes for Bunny and Buddy

Last week Chris had to go on a business trip back to Iowa. He was gone for 4 days and I was beyond exhausted. No kidding, single moms are heroes.

By the last day, I decided we needed a treat – so we headed over the ball diamond for an icecream date. I’m so glad we went, because it was so fun, and I didn’t have to clean up the mess!! hehe. It also afforded me the opportunity to take some photos of the kids in some things I recently made them.

Bunny is wearing a little tunic top I made that’s loosely based off a little Carter’s top she has. Same deal with Buddy – his little tshirt is loosely based off a Carter’s tshirt he has. So I don’t feel like I can say that they’re truly my designs, but they do have my spin. I dont’ normally make a lot of stuff for the kids, and i’m only now starting to do it more. I found sewing for babies to be a frustrating experience. I was forever misjudging the size, or they’d grow out of it too quickly, or it would be impractical, or uncomfortable etc etc. But somehow, making things for toddlers is less stressful – maybe because there’s less fuss and they’ll wear it longer?

Regardless, I’m pretty thrilled with how these little pieces turned out – and I reckon the models are pretty ridiculously cute too – if I do say so myself!

p.s. people often ask me where particular fabrics come from – so in case you were wondering, all the fabrics used were from Fabric.com but seem to be sold out now (even though i only bought them a few weeks ago).

Oh my gosh. They’re ADORABLE. And you’ve made me realize that The Pup has never had ice cream. I think we’re going to remedy that this weekend!

Like you, I do some sewing for my kids, not a lot, but never for my babies. They would wear them maybe once. That’s a lot of effort for not a lot of return. These outfits you made are very cute and so are your kids.

How cute!! I’ve only been sewing gathered skirts lately because they’re so forgiving on mistakes/sizing, but sewing for little ones seems like a very special kind of challenge! The clothes my mom made me were always my favorite, I reckon your kids think the same!

Oh. my. goodness. They are adorable (the children AND the outfits!) I, too, found sewing for babies frustrating. But I am loving sewing for my preschooler and my son seems to have stopped his “3 sizes in a month” growth spurt.
