You may have noticed, I’m not really into craft type sewing. I love designing clothing – but if I have to sew a pillowcase or something, I literally want to die. However, this little quiet book is something I’ve been wanting to make for Bunny for about a year. Last year around this time, I bought all the materials for it and made a little plan of what I wanted to do. Then I procastinated. Then I lost the plan. Then I lost the materials. hmmm.
So when I found the materials 2 wks ago and Chris simultaneously found the little plan, I decided it was fate and dedicated some time to make it right then and there. And I’m soooo happy that I did!!!
It kept Bunny entertained a lot during our roadtrip and now that we’re home she still won’t stop playing with it.
The front cover has a cute loveheart, using the scrap fabric from the lady dress, and her name. And of course for the little girl obsessed with handbags, it had to have handles to look like one!
A flower pot where the flowers are attached with buttons & ribbon – and shoes with shoe laces
Beads and a Noah’s ark that I filled with plastic animals, insects & fish
A few numbers and letters because she loves to count
A velcro “puzzle” and a tree with little flaps
And on the back a little pocket to put a notebook and crayons, because she loves to colour!
It was a little hard to get shots, because she kept trying to play!!
I won’t do an actual tutorial on this, as there are literally heaps out there, and there are also patterns you can buy on Etsy, but I just wanted to show you guys mine, and offer some ideas!
If you have a toddler you need to keep entertained (quietly!! hence the name of the book) then I would highly recommend this – but be warned, it took me literally a whole day to make it, and it was really really frustrating at points (read: meg yelled at the sewing machine a lot).
But even though it was a bit of a challenging project – I’m so thrilled that I made it, and I can’t wait to make one for little Buddy!
