The Kelly Skirt is here!!

August 4th, 2012

I’m very happy to announce the release of my newest sewing pattern –  the Kelly skirt!

I am honestly so excited about this pattern! It’s aimed at a beginner level, so all of the pattern pieces have been kept to simple shapes to aid with construction and alterations. It works beautifully with a variety of fabrics, so you aren’t limited to one season. Try it in in something light and breezy for summer – or something heavier for winter! I’ve personally made it in denim, khaki and quilting cotton – and really can’t wait to try it in a breezy silk, and am particularly excited to make a wool version at some point. And because of the simple pattern shapes, the opportunities for customization and unleashing your own creativity are endless!

This truly is one of my favourite designs – and has been included in two of my apparel collections, the Perth collection and the Country Roads collection.

I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I do!!

I really adore Veronika, she is such a doll. After getting to spend some time with her in Texas during the Texas Style Conference, I can confidently say she is one of the sweetest people i’ve ever met. I really wish we lived closer!!

So of course i was thrilled when i saw her style up my Banksia top back in February. Now that I’m back in winter again, I’m feeling inspired all over again by the adorable way she wore it.

Do you read Tick Tock Vintage? Because you know you really should :)

of sorts

July 3rd, 2012

It’s been a very interesting thing – moving back home, and beginning my business all over again. Everything has taken much longer than i’d like – and i have felt frustrated. But finally, things are falling into place as they should, and the store will be reopening in 2 weeks. I’m so excited!

On the flip side – i know things will be crazy hectic once we reopen. It always is when i take a break. So this week, I”m having a holiday of sorts. I’m trying to take full advantage of the fact that i have nothing to do till stock arrives, and i’m resting. It feels like the first time in a very long time that i’ve just sat an existed. I’m kind of loving it.

We’ve been spending almost all our time in the backyard – me reading with my legs stretched out, and the kids playing. And today we spent the day at the zoo. It’s nice to feel so calm and content – especially since i will be running around like crazy in a week or so,

Till then, we breathe, and enjoy the quiet.
