Shabby Apple dress GIVEAWAY **closed**

June 28th, 2010 106 Comments

2010-06-27 8I’m really thrilled to be partnering with Shabby Apple to give away this gorgeous dress to one of you!

2010-06-27 25

When they asked me to host a giveaway, I honestly had such a tough time choosing which dress, because there were so many I loved. I even had to enlist the help of my sister in law (thanks Sophs!) – and I think this dress just screams Meg!

2010-06-27 4

Isn’t it pretty?? It’s called Sheep Meadow… I love that name. I love the full skirt and the cap sleeves. Unfortunately I did have to hem it a bit because of my height… it was below my knee and you know my thoughts on things that hit below my knee. I think it’s perfect now! Of course this is really great news for those of you who are tall, or who are frustrated with the shorter skirt lengths this season. Shabby Apple is probably the solution for you, as all of their dresses are a little longer than what you’ll find in stores right now.

I love how breezy it is, and the fact that it has pockets (all dresses should have pockets in my opinion!). It’s actually tricking me into feeling really thin because it fits really generously. I’m normally a solid medium, but I had to take an XS in this dress. The nice thing is that they pre-warn you on the website that it fits large, so you know to pick a smaller size, plus they offer a huge range of sizes.

2010-06-27 23

But the thing that really makes it a winner for me, is how much Chris likes it. Any dress he likes immediately, goes into my golden rotation!! Man I love this dress… I don’t think I want to take it off.

2010-06-27 21

You want one of your own right? Of course you do! It’s freaking adorable!!

All  you have to do to enter the giveaway is:

  1. Visit the Shabby Apple store, and lust over the Sheep Meadow dress a bit more and then
  2. Leave a comment on this blog post, telling me why you’d like this dress. That’s it!!
  3. You can also link to this post on your blog, twitter or facebook, if you’d like to be entered more than once – the more you do the more chances you have! (and don’t forget to leave another comment to let me know)

Giveaway ends July 6th 2010 at midnight.

  • Jules says:

Would LOVE to sport this dress! So summery and fun! Also, it’s scientifically proven that blue + green = best color combo ever! Delightful! GREAT giveaway. (And of course the dress looks lovely on you!)

  • Della says:

Ooh, wow, Shabby Apple has my name written all over it. :)

Gosh, where do I start? I love the Sheep Meadow dress, because for starters, I love that the stripes are green! As much as I love the nautical-ness of blue stripes, it’s so refreshing to see them in a different color this year!

  • Nic Ridley says:

I’ve been coveting this dress from the day it came out – I’d love to win it! I think it looks so cute and fun and would be very flattering! I too would have to hem it, though. Me and my short legs!

  • MH says:

    Green and white–my favorite combination!!

  • Kayla says:

Why wouldn’t I love that dress? It is adorable! That dress would be perfect for a wedding shower I have coming up in a few weeks. It’s for a good friend so she’s already seen most of my closet and I have been looking for the perfect dress that she hasn’t yet seen. Plus all of the options with tights and boots. This dress seems like a great option for all year!

  • Melinda R says:

I live in dresses most of the year (another reason to live in San Diego). I love the bold colors and stripes in this dress. Plus the full skirt makes me want to twirl in circles.

  • Melissa says:

You look beautiful in that dress! I love the navy/green combo. Haven’t tried it yet because navy scares me, but you look wonderful!

  • Andrea says:

I live in dresses in the summer and the green will match my Irish eyes!

  • katiemax says:

I *love* this dress! The color combo and silhouette are perfect!

  • Taryn says:

What a great dress! We don’t have a dress code at our office but I do try to dress nicer than just jeans all the time. This would be great to add to my tired old rotation.

  • Kate says:

What a pretty dress. I love that it could be worn for brunch with the ladies, dinner with the date, and even to church. I would love to have something that versatile in my wardrobe!

  • Allison says:

I love this dress! I adore the slightly retro feel and kelly green is one of my favorite colors to wear!

  • PepperToast says:

That dress in particular: stripes, green, navy belt. Any dress (or article of clothing) from that website would have been just fine! I just looked at everything and I love it all. The variety of looks was really refreshing. Now, there is that little matter called money. With three kids, it has been a long time since I have spent money like that on myself on a ‘non essential’. Still, it was lovely eye candy and I’ve bookmarked the site for the future.

  • Kelly says:

I have been needing more green and more stripes in my life – this dress has both!

  • SAMANTHA says:

    that dress is heaven!!!
i’m all about stripes this year. :)

  • Kaylee says:

I would love this dress- I recently had surgery on my leg to remove cancer and am unable to comfortably wear pants. It has been dresses all spring and summer for me- I would love to add another one to the rotation! Plus- I could wear it to my sisters baby shower I am hosting :) yay!

  • Jessica says:

This dress is so cute and fun! I’ve always been really self conscious about my body and I never thought I could pull off dresses since I never really felt very feminine but I’m starting to break out of my shell and this will be the summer of dresses for me :)

  • Clarissa says:

Very cute! I wouldn’t normally go for stripes, but this dress does stripes right. Love it and would love to win it. :D

  • Melissa H. says:

i love the color of this dress!

  • Lizzy says:

Seriously love this dress and would be such a great add to my wardrobe. I seriously live in skirts and dresses during the summer, and i love that this dress has pockets and stripes. I would be so honored to win this giveaway! :)

  • Kate B says:

I love this dress!! So versatile and adorable, not to mention a classic silhouette!

  • Eleanor (undeadgoat) says:

Madly in love with the colors . . . plus also I need more summer dresses in my wardrobe!

  • Alisa says:

Very cute dress! And yes, a little bit longer length would be so fantastic. I am a little taller so it would be so great to wear something that hits my knee or better yet, just below. Love the green and white.

  • zeynep says:

the green stripes are so romantic and nostalgic, I love it!

  • Sara says:

I would love to have this dress. I have looked at it dozens of times on Shabby Apple but have never ordered anything.

  • Justine says:

I love the bold color stripes and how the blue just pops out of the dress. Your hair looks really good with the dress!

    Thanks for the chance!

  • marie says:

I think its adorable! I love the green stripes.. it makes it very unique!

  • Alicia says:

I love the whole Shabby Apple site and would love all the dresses! I have an obsession with striped clothes so this dress fits right in with my wardrobe.

  • Megan W says:

Love the Dress and love Shabby Apple!

  • Jess says:

That’s adorable! I’ve only started wearing dresses and skirts in the last year and I’m trying to build up my wardrobe of them. I’ve definitely perused Shabby Apple before but ultimately, they’re just a little out of my price range most of the time. I’d love to have something from them, though!

  • Erin says:

I am in dire need of some cute summery dresses and I am absolutely smitten with this dress (and honestly nearly every dress by Shabby Apple!). I hope I win!!

  • Nataliya says:

Because it’s green. And has stripes. And it’ll allow me to practice me hemming skills ;)

  • Angela says:

I love this dress!! The green stripes are the best part!

  • Carla says:

Love this dress!!!! So, pretty. I love green and blue together, but my my favorite part is the beautiful skirt, so full and fun!

  • Katherine Liggitt says:

Wow! I love everything about this dress! green is my favorite color!! I want this dress for a wedding we’re doing the music in next month! This would be perfect!

  • Megan says:

Pockets, sleeves, and a full skirt make it a winner in my book! Plus, you make it look so darn cute.

  • Billie says:

This dress is so fun and full of whimsy. I want to wear it to a carnival where the perfect accessory would be a delicious corn dog (obviously), but, alas, a more practical (and desperate) reason for wanting this dress is so that I can wear it while on the job hunt. All the skills I have are apparently unmarketable, but I think that the Shabby Apple would work to my advantage by mesmerizing the interviewer into a trance, which, upon entering, I would convince the interviewer of my stellar abilities and be hired on the spot. In short, my financial future lies in the pockets and pleats of this dress.

  • Wow this dress looks even better on you than on the model! I would LOVE to own this!

  • Kate says:

I would like this dress because I have been experiencing a renewed love affair with green, blue, and stripes, and this dress includes them all. I also like dresses and skirts that are longer so this dress just sounds all kinds of perfect.

  • I would love this dress because the colors are so pretty!

  • Jac says:

Love Shabby Apple dresses… if I had the money I’d be ordering from them all the time. This dress is simple yet so sophisticated and love the longer length. Fingers crossed here as I’d love to win it! :)

  • piglet says:

I don’t imagine I can enter, being in New Zealand (in fact one time shappy apple did approach me about a giveway, but when I said I was in NZ they never emailed back!)
Anyway, I just wanted to say how adorable it looks on you! I love the flare of the skirt.

  • Erin says:

This dress is so pretty, I especially like the blue sash. It complements the green so nicely.

  • Pauli says:

What a fabulous discovery! Thanks for introducing me to Shabby Apple. SO many gorgeous dresses, love the ’50s & ’40s styles…hard to find ones that ship down under – so excited to see that Shabby Apple does! Not sure I’m eligible to enter, being from the land of Oz, but the dress is certainly stunning enough to pull me out of lurkerville! Whoever wins will be one lucky lady!

  • Pauli says:

    p.s I also re-tweeted ;)

  • Dallas Ann says:

Oh my goodness. So much love for this dress!

  • Celina says:

I love this dress. I haven’t gotten my pre-pregnancy weight back yet (its been 3 kids ago since I’ve worn cute clothes). working hard but living in transition clothes. The high waist would be perfect for me. I also have a unnatural obsession for pleats.

  • Rachel says:

    I love this dress!
Here’s why: 1) it’s the perfect Silhouette for my body type, cinched at the waist and form fitting on top, with a nice loose skirt. 2) Stripes are very “in” this season. 3) Those pleats are just too sweet!

Annnnnnd I’ve linked you on my blog!

  • [...] Nielsen has a giveaway going on, I’m hoping I’ll finally get my shot!  To enter Click here and leave a message about how much you love this dress!  [...]

  • Steph says:

Ooh, I’ve been on the hunt for work-appropriate summer dresses, and this one would be perfect! Thanks for the chance to win!

  • Rik says:

I, too, think that all dresses should have pockets. :)
This dress is: Perfect for picnicking, pleasantly pocketed, and has pleats! (Main criteria for dresses of awesomeness)

  • tia says:

What a charmer! You didn’t even give us a spin and display the whimsical bow in back, and I’m still a fan. Everything about this dress is flatting to my full hourglass figure. The pleated skirt, cap sleeves and rear bow nodding to the full dresses of the 50′s and the empire waist hiding imperfections… I have to say, this might have to be added to my collection regardless of your giveaway. What a great pick!

  • Chris says:

SUCH a cute dress! I’d love to win it – I’ve been on a clothes-buying ban for a couple months now, as I just spent a bunch of money on a new bike to do triathlons. But I’ve been craving something summery and wonderful. This totally fits the bill!

  • Nicole N. says:

I LOVE this dress! I have seen a few promotions for Shabby Apple and while I have been intrigued this one has sent me straight over to check them out. You have great taste Meg!

  • Maren says:

This dress is fantastic. I love the color (green is my favorite and the white is so so so so so perfect), and the skirt. I’ve always had a thing for full-skirted dresses, I can’t get enough of them, but I can’t figure out how to sew them, and I never run into any dresses that have them that aren’t out of my price range! Gah! You have wonderful taste!

  • Maren says:

Gah! I love this dress so much! First off, I’m memerized by those fantastic stripes. Green is my favorite color, and the white is lovely. Second of all, THAT SKIRT MAKES THIS THE DRESS OF MY DREAMS! I love full skirts so much! But I can’t figure out how to make it, nor can I find any that aren’t out of my price range. You have wonderful taste my dear!

  • I wouldn’t like this dress, I’d love it! And I’d love it because I have to spend nine hours a day in summer school right now, and this dress is cheerful enough and bright enough and green enough to keep me happy while I sit in my basement class with no windows.

  • Katherine says:

Ahhh! This dress is absolutely adorable! I love the way it fits and the green with the pop of blue of the belt. I would love to wear this because it’s my favorite style – fitted at top and full at the bottom! So flattering! :)

  • Tia Kluesner says:

After having my two kiddos I have found that dresses like this actually make me look like I did before I had 2 kids, oh how I love that dress and would love to have it in my wardrobe.

  • Casey says:

I LOVE LOVE this dress so much and MUST have it for one of the many wedding showers I have coming up!! fingers crossed!
    THANKS!

  • Beth K says:

Thank you for posting this site! I can forsee a couple of purchases in the future. I love the silhouette and the contrast of the green and stripes with the blue belt. What a knockout.

  • Erin says:

I’ve had my eye on this dress for a while, but just haven’t bought it yet. Maybe now I won’t have to buy it–fingers crossed! I love Shabby Apple!

  • G says:

This dress is so flirty, I love it! I linked back to this post from my blog so you can enter my name twice in the hat!

  • sarahscustard says:

Stripes! Full skirt! STRIPES! Man, I love the shape of this dress… and have been curious to try something from the Shabby Apple range for some time. Sure, the dress probably isn’t season appropriate (it currently being winter in Perth, Australia) – but if I were to win, I can’t say I would be waiting until spring/summer to give it a whirl… I even have a great navy blue cardi to wear with it :-)

  • moriah says:

I just had a baby, and that dress will hide my deflated tummy! Yay!!!!!

First of all, I LOVE your blog! I’ve stalked it for awhile and seem to think you’re one of my friends. Don’t be scared.

I love this dress and it would be perfect for ME! I’m kinda tall…5’10″ so it’s hard for me to find dresses that I can bend over in without showing my goods to the world. And I love anything with a fitted top and full skirt! Please pick me!!

  • Terri says:

what a beautiful dress! And indeed, Shabby Apples’ line(s) of clothing are fine! I want, I want, I want.

  • Megan says:

I would love this dress! My body type has changed quite a bit since having my daughter. I went from very rectangular to extremely curvy and I think this dress would be just right! Plus, I’m 6’1″, so a little extra length would be amazing!

  • Henria O. says:

I love this dress! It’s such a surprising and unconventionally beautiful dress. It doesn’t look like anything in my closet or anything that I’ve ever envisioned when considering the type of dress I would love to have. Yet, it’s lovely and the quality of the fabric is amazing! I would definitely stand out in a dress like this, not that I’m trying to, but this dress is a head-turner!

  • Lisa D says:

This dress is adorable as are all the clothes I see on your blog. I love dresses for the simple fact they are easy to wear. Pick one item of clothing and you’re dressed. I also agree that all dresses (and skirts) should have pockets. Thanks for great inspiration.

I would love to own this adorable dress! It’s a great cut for me, and I’ve gotten really into stripes recently…plus, pockets? How great! Thanks for the chance to enter!

  • I’d really like to win because I’ve just started a new job in marketing and I feel so lacking in the clothes department. I know that dress will make me feel sucessful and as a result I will be!

It also reminds me of on my late Nana used to wear, I’d love to channel some beloved Nana memories.
